About: Monika Walter
I was born and raised in a large industrial city in the Southwest of Germany.
I began my professional life as an ordained protestant minister in a congregation which I served for about one and a half years.
I then held the position of the senior chaplain in a rural hospital in the idyllic area of Palatinate in the Southwest of Germany for nine years. During this intense time, I studied simultaneously psychology at the university in Landau, Pfalz.
Moreover, I received training in Autogenic Training with the German Association of Psychologists (BDP) and in psychooncology at the ZIST Institute in Penzberg, Bavaria.

In the last three years of my chaplaincy, I also worked as a psychologist, focusing on the needs of cancer patients and their loved ones. To alleviate the side effects of chemotherapy, I induced in them relaxation by the means of Autogenic Training, Guided Imagery and conscious breathing. I counseled cancer patients and their family members, and I trained the staff of several hospitals in Autogenic Training, relaxation, and communication with terminally ill patients.
On my first visit to the United States, I met my future husband. Later, after my immigration in the U.S., I completed Yoga Teacher Training in New Mexico.
Teaching yoga, meditation, relaxation, and conducting lectures and workshops fills me with great joy. My husband and I – and our three lively dogs – don't get tired marveling at the beauty of the high desert in southern New Mexico.
Time has become our most precious commodity. True richness is expressed in having time. Time is life, not money.
What really matters takes time to unfold: Friendship, trust, love, understanding, forgiveness, the sense of belonging, and inner freedom.
Relaxation is the key for stepping out of the rut and for reclaiming life.
It is my privilege to contribute to the well-needed peace on our planet by teaching relaxation, rest, and renewal.
